$250 off purchase of a 95% Furnace through PSE
Monday, January 30th, 2012THE SNOW IS HERE!
Tuesday, January 17th, 2012Did you wake up to a snow storm and now your furnace isn’t working, and you do not know what to do? If you have a 90% efficiency furnace and above, you may have snow blocking the pipes that allow for an intake and outtake of air. These pipes are typically white PVC, and you will be able to find them on the side of your house.
If you are not sure if you have a 90% efficiency furnace and above, check to see if you have those pipes. If you do, then you have a 90% and above efficiency furnace. If there is snow blocking these pipes, the furnace will not work. Try cleaning out your pipes and see if your furnace starts to work again.
Be careful when shoveling or snow blowing all that snow, that you do not mistakenly block those pipes, and make sure you keep your pipes clear to avoid any problems now or in the future.
If a problem still exists after clearing these pipes contact our service department at 253-872-5665.

Happy New Year! With the New Year meet the new residential furnace of the future
Friday, January 6th, 2012In general, residential furnaces over the past 10 years have become smaller and more efficient. Manufacturers now offer a wider variety of higher efficiency designs to meet their customers’ needs, and with these changes have come major changes to how furnaces are installed. These changes typically involve increases in system static pressure, a wider use of flexible ductwork, and increased use of technologies intended to promote or maintain indoor air quality.
One innovation that impacts installation practices is increased availability of models that use an electronically commutated motor(ECM) rather than the traditional permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor. Over the last few years, furnace change outs were made cost effective with the energy tax credits that were made available on qualifying new furnaces with an ECM motor. ECM motors can be programmed by the manufacturer to run at very low speeds for the manual fan-on mode. Users who want or need to run the circulating fan continuously will see significant energy savings. A direct benefit of EC’s is a reduction in electrical energy use, thus reducing the part of a consumer’s electric bill associated with operating the furnace fan.
As homeowners become aware of the energy savings, facing repairs that involves replacing the existing motor are becoming less and less cost effective. Replacement of a new furnace will save you in the long run, energy and increased Indoor air quality. If you would like to meet with our in home comfort specialist, call today at 253-872-5665!
